The Economic Impacts of the Federal Milk Marketing Order Consolidation and Reform Proposal Rule

Utilizing USDA's economic impact analyses, this working paper evaluates the farm level impacts of the proposed rule for milk marketing order reform. It indicates that Texas is among the regions most adversely affected by USDA's preferred option 1B. Generally, option 1B favors those areas having low fluid utilization (high manufacturing utilization), particularly if located in proximity to a new price basing point.
